Holy shit.
It was crazy enough when talk began leaking out this morning that HP was spinning off their PC business — they’re the biggest PC maker in the world.
Now they’re winding down (read: killing off) webOS and killing off the Pre and the just-released TouchPad?
Yes, they have their large enterprise business. And now they have Autonomy. So essentially, HP is going to try to do...

Kill Parasitic Features, Fix Some Broken →
Many times the quickest way to grow a business is to fix something that’s broken or to kill parasitic features. Some companies I’ve worked at are so focused on launching new things that they never take the time to figure out if what they launched in the past is working or not.
Product / Project →
Today, as websites have become increasingly important in business, they are, unfortunately, still being managed as projects. This becomes a problem in meeting defined business objectives, prioritizing, having the right skills to manage what has now become a core business function. If the website has become or is a core business function there is a greater need than managing a project, it has...

Dear Wrestling Supporters,
It is with great regret that I write to inform you that UC Davis Athletic Director Greg Warzecka has announced the discontinuation of wrestling at UC Davis. This came as a shock to our student-athletes, staff, and especially myself.
I was told last fall that no matter what may come to be, football and wrestling were safe at UC Davis. As a program, we have had the...

Steve: Did you read the news on amazon offering their 1-click MPS to their merchants? (link: http://bit.ly/QryUX)
I think that's pretty significant stuff (for the continued development of self-sustaining mobile web).
Joshua: yeah people can now buy even more useless crap! :)
Steve: That makes your career even more bright.
I hope that's a genuine smile.
Joshua: my career? just job prospects, man
My career is going to be in politics and public service.
All I'm doing is gathering funds and building my network of campaign donors
Steve: Hard to buy the senorita LV handbags working in the public service sector.

Joshua: hahaha
Comcast zigs while Time Warner zags
bijan:
It seems likely that Comcast will acquire a controlling interest in NBC Universal.
In a way it’s nothing new for a cable operator to seek control of cable properties. That was John Malone’s playbook when he ran TCI.
But i think it’s interesting to see the differences between comcast’s strategy and time warner’s strategy
For example:
Cable. Time Warner spun out Time Warner Cable....
