Less is more

I came across this post by Bijan Sabet, a venture capitalist from Spark Capital. It’s interesting to read his thoughts about the Evite example; just a year and half ago, our team built an internal team project called www.Shindee.com. We built it for the simple fact that Evite sucked. It was functional and it worked well. However, within a couple months, we had to abandon the project as we had to make ends meet and work on client projects. We haven’t had a chance to revisit that little project.

For those that read this blog, anyone see any interest in Shindee, a simple invitations web application?

bijan:

We all know the advantages in making things simpler & easier when it comes to a web service.

I like how at the last Tumblr board meeting, David was telling us how many options were removed from the Tumblr Dashboard. So smart.

Here’s another example: when it comes to setting up an online party you could use something like Evite. Over the years they just keep adding more features and more options.

Compare that with the newly released Mobaganda. Take a look at this service. You can use it without even registering. So clean, no bloat.

Just brilliant.

I know which one I’d rather use.
